A Simple Example of a Card Break
Imagine a baseball break featuring several sealed boxes with spots sold by team.
You purchase the New York Yankees spot. As the breaker opens the packs, cards assigned to the Yankees belong to your spot under the listing’s rules. Other collectors receive cards assigned to their teams.
If an eligible Yankees autograph is pulled, it goes to the Yankees spot. If the autograph belongs to another team, it goes to that team’s spot.
Your spot covers the matching cards pulled under the listing’s rules. It does not guarantee an autograph, a particular card, or a minimum card value. Some spots may have no matching cards pulled.

What Cards Do You Get in a Break?
Your cards depend on three things: your spot, the cards pulled, and the listing’s rules.
A team or player appearing on a product’s checklist does not mean their cards will appear in every box. A checklist describes what can be found across the product.
Before joining, check how the break handles:
- Base cards: The regular cards that make up the main set.
- Inserts and parallels: Additional designs or versions of cards.
- Autographs and memorabilia cards: Signed cards or cards containing a material piece.
- Cards featuring multiple teams or players: Check the rules for deciding who receives them.
- Redemptions and points cards: Check how these are assigned.
- Cards without a clear team: Look for the listing’s explanation or ask the breaker.
Don’t assume another break’s rules apply to the one you’re buying.

When comparing spots, look at the product, the number of boxes, the format, and the team or player coverage. Two listings for the same team may include very different products and quantities.

For a random break, watch the assignments as well as the opening. Follow along as the breaker reveals the cards and identifies the spots they belong to.
